Stolen Secrets

A new play for the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe

East London is built on secrets
They hide in hoods, gutters, drops of rain
In tower block stairwells
Or trickling out of drains…

A pillow fight on a tower block roof. A mother and daughter afraid of the truth. A sickly smell in the twilight air. A speechless girl with blood in her hair.

Harvested from the hearts of London’s East End, a fistful of urban confessions. Woven into a tapestry of haunting tales by award-winning playwright Fin Kennedy, community arts innovator Julia Voce, and the multi-talented girls of Mulberry School, this is East London as you’ve never seen it before.

Stolen secrets. Urban fairytales for the 21st century. We dare you to watch.

Mulberry Theatre Company are back after last year’s
sell-out smash hit Mehndi Night.

“Imaginatively executed and boldly conveyed … Kennedy's script is a delight; textured, truthful and clearly informed by the students and their experiences of the world … While they have the presence of a professional cast, they also maintain an untutored naturalism that is refreshingly honest and unrestrained. The versatile and imaginative set is a visual jewellery box … this is one of the best-staged plays I have seen this year.”

**** The Scotsman

"A little gem of a show that you can't help but be charmed by."
