We Are Shadows

A young man in care rolls a dice … and with the flash of a knife changes forever the life of a girl he has never met. A teenage mum at the end of her tether takes a toke on something she shouldn’t, and in the time it takes to strike a match … seals her baby’s fate. A volunteer in a women’s refuge runs through the park …and touches the past of a refugee from the end of the Earth. Nine lives, nine tales and a chain of events with unforeseen consequences. Moving among the shadows of London's East End, a group of disconnected young people face harsh choices in their lives. A chance encounter reveals the invisible links between them all. When all's said and done, what do we leave behind us? Darkness? Or light? Through a series of stylised interwoven monologues, We Are Shadows creates a snapshot of contemporary urban life. This extraordinary hard-hitting coming-of-age drama has been developed in direct contact with young people, portraying diverse cross-cultural inner-city life and characters, underscored by a contemporary soundtrack.
